Courses at PST
As a Full Gospel Assemblies School of Theology, created for the training of pastors, evangelists, missionaries and disciples of our Lord Jesus, courses are presented in the evangelical Pentecostal tradition. Our Distance Learning courses have been created with the intent to offer a quality Biblical education, effectively preparing those called of God to “study to show themselves approved…”. (2Tim. 2:15)
Each course will have a syllabus that provides an overview of the course assignments, grading strategy, student and faculty expectations, on-line links and course materials, as well as an understanding of the course goals and learning outcomes. Courses may contain written lectures, book references, research and reading, question and answer assignments, essay requirements, tests and exams, and Ministry Objectives requirements. Various electronic mediums will be utilized to bring to each program, a proficient, relevant and exciting learning experience. These may include; video links, on-line discussions, Skype communications, electronic student account services and email transmissions.
How do I know if I am prepared for Distance Learning?
All prospective students may contact the Admissions Office to speak with an admissions counselor to assist with any questions.

We strive to provide a variety of means in order that you can interact easily with your instructor when the situation presents the need. These include:

What are Ministry Objectives?
As a Distance Learning student, you will find that a number of PST courses will include a Ministry Objectives requirement, giving you real world training. These interactions will afford you with a wealth of experience as you fulfill the ministry participations, observations or practicums for your chosen program of study. These requirements will be carried out through the approved church, community or missions ministry of your choice.
What textbooks are required?
The Bible is your primary textbook. While all courses are written utilizing the King James Version, PST encourages students to obtain hardcopy or online resources for comparative learning and understanding. Bibles, Bible Dictionaries, Concordances, Reference Bibles and Commentaries are recommended. Links for online references will be supplied in all course syllabus documents.
How are course work and exams submitted?
Course assignments and exams are submitted by postal mail or email. Note of required submission means will be provided in course syllabus. Priority and special mailing services are utilized for shipping course materials.
Are there computer or internet access requirements?
Course requirements for submission of assignments (typing, spacing, font, etc) will be found with each course. In general, students aught to have access to reliable computer and internet resources. You will also want to review any additional requirements that your program area my have.
Will I have a course schedule?
Distance Learning courses are designed with your busy schedule in mind, providing the flexibility you need to study at the times most convenient to you.
The courses are structured for independent learning to provide the maximum flexibility for the adult learner busy with ministry, family and work responsibilities.
All of your course activities, assignments, and exams, however, must be completed by their respective due dates. The typical time allowance for each Distance Learning course is a maximum of six (6) months, without incurring tuition and fee penalties. Refer to Tuition and Fees for further information. Some courses may also contain online discussions, and ministry objectives that you will need to take into consideration and to which additional course schedule allowances may be granted.
What is the estimated time commitment for each course?
Students enrolled in Distance Learning undergraduate courses will report spending an
approximate 8 to 12 hours per week on research, readings and assignments and ministry
objectives for a 3-credit course. All students are encouraged to plan for extra time when you have papers, projects, practicums, or exams due.
Once I begin, how long might it take for the completion of my program?
This answer will vary for each student. Many factors are to be taken into consideration (e.g.,transfer credits, course load per semester) as each will be a factor in your time length for completion.
Depending on the program, some students are able to complete 12 credits every year — others more than 20 credits. Students are encouraged to choose a program that best fits their schedule and life circumstances.
Are there PST study groups that Distance Learners may attend?
There are a limited number of active PST Study Group settings available for Distance Learners to become active with. Study Group centers are sponsored by a local church or approved ministry with students enrolled in the PST undergraduate level program courses. Students are enrolled through Phrear School of Theology – Distance Education, while attending classes held at the local church or ministry with local PST approved instructional facilitators. All students attending a PST study group center remain responsible to PST-Distance Education for the completion of all course requirements.
Generally, Study Group centers will facilitate a limited number of courses each year in coordination with PST home campus. Advantages for becoming involved with a study group will include the received oversight for completion of course requirements, an interactive classroom setting, the gaining from the wisdom and knowledge of the instructors proctoring the offered courses and the finding of the encouragement for continuation as you study with the leadership of the local church.

Am I invited to participate in Graduation as I complete my studies?
When you earn your degree through Distance Learning, you earn a Phrear School of Theology ministry degree. This is a time to celebrate with family and friends. We want to applaud your hard earned success and have you join with us for graduation, as we give glory before the Lord God Almighty. All Distance Leaning graduates are invited to the same commencement ceremony as those on campus. Graduates may also attend celebration services held with local church ministries hosting study centers.
Attending commencement will often be the first time our Distance Learning students will be on campus, as well as meet classmates, faculty, and academic advisers in person. It is an emotional and joyous experience as we join together to honor those who have prepared to serve the Lord Jesus and the His church.
